The Academy Awards, or "Oscars", is a yearly American awards ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (A.M.P.A.S.) to be aware of excellence in cinematic success in the United States film industry as assessed by the Academy's voting membership and the different category winners are awarded a copy of a statuette, on the record called the Academy Award of Merit, which has become generally famous by its nickname "Oscar" and the awards, first presented in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, are overseen by A.M.P.A.S.
